The Lord once said to St. Mechtilda:
“The greatest and most useful good that man can do with his mouth is the glory of God and the continual conversation with God in prayer. The most glorious thing anyone can do with his eyes to God is to cry love and read the Scriptures. The best work of the ears is to hear the word of God willingly and to be ready to obey. The greatest work of the hands is to lift them up in pure prayer and to write spiritual and holy things. The sublime work of the heart is to love God constantly with all our heart and to remember Him in frequent meditation. The most useful exercises of the whole body are kneeling, desiring graces, and works of charity.
