The words of St. Mechtilde:
“Lord Jesus Christ, I, poor man, beg your help, for my enemies are pursuing me. Lord, I complain to You because they want to distance me and separate me from You. Lord, Almighty Son of God, separate them from me, do not give me over to their power, and keep me pure in You, for You have redeemed me by Your Passion. Be a help and a comfort to me, O Lord, and do not suffer me to perish, for Thou wilt have died for me.
Lord Jesus Christ, I seek Your help, awaken my soul from the sleep of laziness and enlighten my senses in darkness. Give me Your help, so that I may walk without sin on the path that leads to You, as far as it is possible for man, for you know my shortcomings. Amen.
