The Lord once said to St. Mechtilde:
“The body of man is nothing but a simple sack in which crystal glass and a precious liquid are kept. Such a bag should be handled with care so as not to abandon it here and there, which could break the crystal glass contained in it and the liquid could spill out. In the same way, a man should take care of his body because of his soul, which contains the liquid of God’s grace and the anointing of the Holy Spirit. He should watch his senses so that he does not see, hear, or say something, whereby he may pour out the spiritual anointing of My grace from his soul, or expel My grace that reigns in it.”
