St. Bridget heard the Lord say:
“My splendor is ineffable and cannot be compared with anything in its charm and goodness. If my splendor were to be seen, the sight of it would make man’s body fail, just as the senses of those who saw my splendor on Mount Tabor would be weakened (cf. Mt 17). The sight of My splendor would fill the soul with such joy that it would stop working and would not have the strength to exercise the body. Since, therefore, without the work of love, there is no entrance to Heaven, and in order that faith may receive its reward, and the body may be fit for work, My splendor may be hidden for a time, so that man, through desire and faith, may see it all the more happily and abundantly in Heaven.
