On one occasion St. Mechtilde said to the Lord Jesus:
“O sweetest and most beloved! What should I train in, what do you like best?” The Lord answered, “In giving Me glory. The saint said, “Ah, teach me to praise You worthily.” Then he answered her: “First of all, you must praise the omnipotence of God the Father, that omnipotence by which he works according to his will in the Son and in the Holy Spirit, the immensity of which no creature in heaven or on earth comprehends. Then praise the inscrutable wisdom of the Son, which He possesses in the fullest communion with the Father and with the Holy Spirit, according to His will, without hindrance—wisdom which no creature can fathom. Then praise the goodness of the Holy Ghost and the love He has in infinite fullness with the Father and the Son according to all His will. A love that cannot be wholly revealed to any creature.”
To this glory the saint said:
“To you be adornment and dominion, honor and power, glory and glory for all eternity, O beloved, Triune God! You are rightly praised, you are worshipped, you are adored by all your creatures, O Most Holy Trinity. Praise, honor and thanksgiving be to you!”
