On one occasion St. Mechtilde asked the Lord Jesus: “What is the use of a book containing her revelations?” The Savior said to her,
All who seek me with faithful hearts will find joy in it, those who love me will be more kindled in my love, and those who are sad will find comfort in it.”

A Prayer Acknowledging God’s Love and Goodness

The words of Venerable Mary of Jesus:
O eternal, incomprehensible goodness! I am astonished and amazed when I consider the immensity of Your immutable Being, and in comparison with Him the lowliness of men, and when I consider what between these two infinitely distant final points Your love has formed a mediation, a love for a creature that is not only small and weak, but at the same time ungrateful. How low and lowly is the subject to which, O Lord, Thou hast turned Thy eye, and how exalted is that to which man, in the contemplation of so great a mystery, can and ought to turn his eye and inclinations! In admiration of my spirit, and with sorrow of heart, I lament the miserable condition of mortals, their ignorance and blindness, that they refuse to acknowledge how early Your Majesty began to look upon them and to prepare for them true happiness, and with such care and love, as if in their happiness rested Your happiness!
For all the love and kindness You show us, most gracious God, be honor and glory to You for all time! Amen.
