The Blessed Virgin Mary said to the venerable Mary of Jesus:
“Great is the danger that death brings to the souls of men, and great is the number of souls who perish in this terrible hour. After all, it is a general rule that a good life is followed by a good death. Exceptions are questionable, rare, and accidental.
After all, the surest remedy is to prepare early for a good death. That is why I admonish you, My daughter, to remind yourself every morning that this day, newly begun, may be your last. Then act as if it were really so, for you do not know whether it will not be your last. Prepare your soul in such a way that you will be able to accept death, if it really comes, with a joyful heart. Do not postpone your repentance and your resolutions, if any, to confess and correct even the slightest imperfection. Do not leave in your conscience even the slightest mistake that could be accused of you, for which you have not yet repented. Wash yourself in the Blood of My Most Holy Son, Jesus Christ, and prepare yourself so that you can stand every moment before a just Judge who will examine you and judge you by the smallest thoughts, by the smallest strength of your soul and by all the words and deeds you have done in your life.
