Venerable Mary of Jesus writes in her apparitions about the circumcision of the Lord Jesus as follows:
“Since the Mother of wisdom knew that her Divine Child wished to submit to the command of circumcision in free love, she made the necessary preparations for this holy act. She also instructed St. Joseph to ask the priest to come to the cave and, as the most worthy servant, to complete the great mystery of circumcision.
When the appointed day came, the priest came to consummate this sacred rite. With great emotion he carried out his task, while the most tender Mother held the Child in her hands.
For the Child, true God and true Man, offered to the eternal Father three sacrifices, all of them so costly that each of them alone would suffice for the salvation of thousands of worlds. The first was that the Child Jesus, although innocent and the Son of God, took upon Himself the form of a sinner and submitted to circumcision, a rite intended to cleanse from original sin. The second sacrifice was the pain that Jesus felt as a true and perfect man. The third sacrifice was the fervent love with which He first shed His blood for the redemption of mankind. Jesus also gave thanks to the heavenly Father for giving Him a human body so that He could suffer for the increase of His glory.
The heavenly Father was pleased to accept the prayer and sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and, as we understand it to our human understanding, saw in it the beginning of the atonement for the sins of the human race.
Meanwhile, the priest asked what name the parents wanted to give to the Child, and Mary and St. Joseph said at the same time: “Jesus is His name!” To this the priest answered, “The parents are in perfect accord with each other, and great is the name which they give to the child. Then he wrote them down in the general book, and he felt a great inner emotion, so much so that he shed abundant tears. Astonished at his own feelings, which he could not explain, he said: “I think it certain that this child will be a great Prophet of the Lord; Educate them carefully and tell me how I can prevent your misery. The Blessed Virgin and St. Joseph humbly thanked him and bade him farewell, giving him a few items.
