Flower of Devotion

Once upon a time the Lord Jesus said to St. Bridget:

“When I wanted to leave the earth and ascend to Heaven, from which, moreover, I was never separated in My Divinity, I left the world a precious memorial, namely, My Most Holy Body. Just as the old law boasted of the ark, the manna, the tablets of the law, and various mysterious rites; Thus can the new man rejoice in the new law. Not as before, from the shadows, but from the truth, namely, from my crucified body, which in the old law was represented by a figure.
And in order that My Body may remain in splendor and reverence, I have erected the edifice of the holy Church, that it may be preserved and adored in it.
I have also appointed priests and special guardians of the Blessed Sacrament, who in a certain sense are above the angels by their office; for they touch with their fingers and lips Him whom even the angels, out of fear of reverence, dare not touch.
