On one occasion St. Mechtilde asked the Lord Jesus: “What is the use of a book containing her revelations?” The Savior said to her,
All who seek me with faithful hearts will find joy in it, those who love me will be more kindled in my love, and those who are sad will find comfort in it.”

The Lord Jesus carries the Cross to Calvary

According to the apparitions of Mary of Jesus:
When Pilate’s sentence was read in a loud voice before all the people, they placed on the executioners a heavy cross, on which the Lord was to be crucified on His wounded shoulders. In order that Jesus might hold him for himself, they untied his hands; but they did not completely remove from Him the cords with which the Most Holy Body was girded, in order to lead the Saviour upon them. The cross was 15 feet long, rough-hewn and of very heavy wood. The one who pronounced judgment before the people began the procession, followed by the shouting mob, with the servants of the court and the soldiers, to march from Pilate’s palace through the streets of Jerusalem to Mount Calvary.
The servants of the judges led Jesus, our Savior, with unspeakable cruelty and boundless insolence. Some drew Him forward on ropes to quicken His steps, others pulled Him backwards to restrain Him and torment Him longer. Through these atrocities and the heavy weight of the Cross, they enslaved Him and pushed Him to stumble and often fall to the ground. But because he struck against the stones, new wounds were formed. Especially on both knees, these wounds were renewed as often as the Savior fell. And on his back, he made the weight of the Cross a new wound. And because He stumbled to one side and then to the other, He struck His Holy Head with the Cross and then with His Head against the Cross, so that the thorns of the crown pierced His body deeper and deeper.
To these pains were added the servants of anger by numerous insults by words, curses, foul spitting, and street mud. They threw it in such quantities upon His Holy Face that His eyes were covered with it, with which He looked upon them mercifully. Thirsting to see Him die, they forced the Master of gentleness to hurry and gave Him no time to relieve Himself. Thus this most innocent Humanity, showered in a few hours with such a torrent of torments, became utterly weak and desecrated, and whoever looked upon Him must have seen these pains and tribulations.
