According to the apparitions of the venerable Mary of Jesus:
From the courtroom of Caiaphas the Divine Saviour was escorted to the underground prison, where he suffered all night the most cruel annoyances and insults. Only on the day of the Last Judgment will they be revealed to all men¹º ( To some extent, through seers and mystics, we already know some of the sufferings that the Saviour had to endure for us in the so-called dark room, that is, in the underground dungeon of torture. These sufferings were seen in a supernatural way by: Blessed Anna Catherine Emmerich, St. Faustina Kowalska, Sr. B. s. Leonia Nastał, Blessed Mary Magdalene Martinengo, Zofia Nosko, and others. See: “Devotion to the Hidden Torments of the Lord Jesus” ed. Maria Vincit, Wrocław 2020. Editor’s note.). In the first hour of Friday morning, the Divine Saviour was again brought before the chief priests and scribes. Because he insisted that he was God, the Jews, full of rage and malice, decided to hand him over to governor Pilate to pronounce on him the death sentence. When they had brought the bound Savior to Pilate’s house, Pilate, seeing that they hesitated to come to judgment, ran out to them and asked them about their complaint against Jesus. The Jews answered, “If he had not been a thief, we would not have brought him here bound.” Pilate answered, “But what crime has he committed?” The Jews answered: “They accuse him of disturbing the land, of wanting to make himself our king, of forbidding Caesar to pay taxes, and of claiming to be the Son of God. That he preaches the new doctrine first in Galilee, and then throughout Judea as far as Jerusalem.” Pilate said, “Take Him away and judge Him according to your laws, for I find no reason to judge Him.” To this the Jews replied, “We must not judge anyone to death!”
Upon hearing the mention of Galilee, Pilate inquired whether Jesus was from Galilee. And when the Jews had testified to this, Pilate, not wishing to pronounce judgment, sent the Savior to Herod, who was in Jerusalem at the same time.
