According to the apparitions of Venerable Mary of Jesus:
This was the same Herod who had St. John the Baptist beheaded. And so the Creator of life came into the presence of the murderer, for the blood of John cried out to the Lord more strongly than the blood of righteous Abel. The unfortunate adulterer, blinded by the terrible judgment of the Supreme Court, received the Savior with reproach, considering Him a sorcerer. Bewildered by such a heinous error, he began to question Him and to ask Him all sorts of questions, imagining that by them he would be able to induce the Lord to perform a miracle at his request. The chief priests and scribes were present here, continually accusing our Saviour, not sparing the same reproaches and calumnies which they hurled against Him before Pilate.
But the Savior answered not a word of Herod, nor a single word to the slander of the Jews, and the Lord opened not His mouth to this man. He did not respond to questions or refute the allegations. As a result, Herod became violently angry. But he did not want his shame to be known; so he made fun of the most innocent Master. And having mocked Him and all his entourage, he had Him clothed in a garment that would arouse ridicule, and brought him back to Pilate.
