On one occasion St. Mechtilde asked the Lord Jesus: “What is the use of a book containing her revelations?” The Savior said to her,
All who seek me with faithful hearts will find joy in it, those who love me will be more kindled in my love, and those who are sad will find comfort in it.”

The crowning of the Lord Jesus with thorns

According to the apparitions of the Venerable Mary of Jesus:
The hatred of the Jews had not yet been satiated after the cruel scourging. In their fury, they wanted to torment the merciful Saviour by exposing Him to public ridicule. To this end, the executioners took Him to the forum and exposed Him here again in a cruel way. They clothed Him in a scarlet robe, torn and dirty; displaying Him disguised as a king in the theater, as an object of ridicule to all present. On His Most Holy Head they pressed a braid of thorns, which was supposed to represent the royal crown. This braid consisted of thorns with very sharp and strong thorns, and it was forced into His Head so strongly that, piercing the skull, it reached the shell of the brain, some thorns to the eyes, others to the ears. This affliction, which the Son of God suffered as a result of the crown of thorns, was one of the greatest. Instead of the king’s scepter, a reed was given in His hand. Such was the abominable manner in which the disfaithful Jews dealt with Him who, by His nature and for so many just reasons, was the true King of kings and Lord of lords.
Then all the soldiers gathered together, and in the sight of the chief priests and Pharisees, they took Jesus into the midst and showered Him with immense mockery, mockery, and slanderous words. Some bowed the knee before Him and shouted derisively: “Hail, King of the Jews!” Others slapped Him; others again beat Him on His Divine Head with a reed that He held in His hand. Others, finally, contaminated Him with their abominable spit. In a word, they all insulted and mocked Him together with the various insults which the devil subjected to them in his satanic hatred.
