On one occasion St. Mechtilde asked the Lord Jesus: “What is the use of a book containing her revelations?” The Savior said to her,
All who seek me with faithful hearts will find joy in it, those who love me will be more kindled in my love, and those who are sad will find comfort in it.”

Prayer of St. John the Baptist

St. Bridget describes in her apparitions that she heard St. John the Baptist in Heaven proclaim the following prayer of praise:

“Blessed be you, God, who art before all things, beside whom there has never been another God, and besides whom there is no other, and there will be no other. For You are, and have been, and will be eternally the only God! You are the truth that the Prophets foretold, You are our joy and our splendor, You are our joy and our contentment. For to look at you fills us with an ineffable charm that no one will know but he who tastes it. You Yourself are our love too. Do not be surprised that we love you, because you are love itself, you love those who love you. And because You are the Creator of all things, You show love even to those who despise knowing You. And since, my Lord, we are rich through Thee and in Thee, we beseech Thee to grant out of this our spiritual riches to those who have no riches, that we may rejoice in our merits in Thee, and others may share in our good things, as we do in Thee. Amen.
