The Most Holy Virgin Love once said to St. Bridget:
“My Son’s heart is as beautiful as honey and very pure, like the purest spring. For from Him, as from a fountain, all that is virtuous and good proceeds. It is also the sweetest; for what is sweeter to the man of understanding than to contemplate his love in creation and redemption, in his works, in his teachings, in his kindness and patience? The love of His Heart is not as flowing as water, but is expanded and enduring, for it remains with man until his last moment. If the sinner were to stand at the gate of his doom, and if he had cried out to the Heart of Jesus for salvation with the determination to amend, he would have found salvation from perdition in Him.
There are two ways to the Divine Heart. The first is the humility of true contrition, which brings man into the Heart of God and into spiritual communion with God. The second way is meditation on the Passion of my Son, a devotion which banishes the hardness of the human heart and stimulates it, so that it has recourse to the Heart of God.
On one occasion St. Mechtilde saw the Most Holy Virgin Love urging some people to the Divine Heart of her Son and saying: “In this fountain sweeten all your bitterness and overcome all your temptations!”
