According to the apparitions of the Venerable Mary of Jesus:
When the most holy soul of the Lord Jesus was separated from the Body, it descended, accompanied by innumerable angels, into the abyss where the righteous of the Old Law had long awaited their deliverance. Through the appearance of the most holy soul of the Lord Jesus, this dark prison was transformed into Heaven, everything was filled with a miraculous splendor. The souls of all the righteous present there were blessed and received the clear vision of Deity. Thus in an instant they passed from a state of long longing to a perpetual possession of glory, from darkness to a light which had hitherto been inaccessible to them.
Then the Lord commanded the angels to bring all the souls who were suffering in purgatory. And in an instant they were all standing before Him. As if in honour of the Solemnity of the Redemption, the Saviour relieved these souls from the sufferings which were yet to be punished, and as the righteous He granted them the happiness of seeing the Godhead. Thus, on that day, the presence of the Most High King emptied these two prisons, the abyss and purgatory, and brought the souls in them into a state of bliss. The Most Holy Soul of Jesus remained in the abyss until Sunday at three o’clock in the morning. At that hour the Savior returned to the tomb again, and as a victorious prince. In the company of the angels whom He led with Him, and of the saints whom He released from those subterranean prisons as His conquering prey and as the banners of His glorious triumph.
By the tomb stood a multitude of other angels, who guarded it and worshipped the saint, united to the Divinity Body. Some of the angels collected the relics of the Most Holy Blood poured out on the earth, and the pieces of the Body of Jesus torn from the wounds, the hair torn from His Divine Face and His Most Holy Head, and all that belonged to the Body of the Son of God. Then they gave all these most holy relics collected to the Most Holy Body of Jesus, so that it had thus regained its natural wholeness and accuracy.
At the same moment the soul of the Lord Jesus was reunited with the Body, and thus gave it immortal life and glory at the same time. The Most Holy Body has acquired four gifts of glory, namely: brightness, imperviousness to suffering, agility and gentleness. These gifts were passed from the soul of our most gracious Saviour to His Body united to the Divinity, so that it acquired such beauty that, even if the beauty of all creatures were united in one creature, it would appear ugly to be compared with the beauty of the Body of Christ.
In short, there is not a single likeness in all creation that can illustrate the grandeur of the risen Savior.
In all this beauty and magnificence, Jesus Christ rose from the tomb. At the same time, in the presence of the saints and patriarchs, He promised the whole race a general resurrection as a consequence of His resurrection. And this in such a way that every man will be resurrected in the same body that belonged to him, and that the righteous in their bodies will be glorified.
