Flower of Devotion

On the feast of the Ascension of the Lord, when the antiphon “With uplifted hands” was sung, St. Gertrude saw how the Lord Jesus was lifted into the air by His own strength. Accompanied by a multitude of angels who served him with the highest reverence, he blessed the people, saying: “My peace I give to you! I leave you My peace!”
Thus she knew that the Lord Jesus had indeed poured out His peace through this blessing into the hearts of those who had celebrated the feast with special devotion. And that this peace will always remain in them, even if they should be afflicted with sorrows and afflictions.
