On one occasion the Lord Jesus said to St. Gertrude:
“If you believe that I would not need to offer myself to God My Father, on the Cross, if I did not want to do so; then you must believe that I still desire to offer myself as lovingly to the same God, my Father, for every sinner, as I did for the salvation of the whole human race. Hence, everyone, even if he is burdened with as many sins as possible, can hope to be forgiven if he offers My Passion and My Death to My heavenly Father for this purpose. As long as he believes that this sacrifice can really obtain for him the gift and fruits of grace, and as long as he has the conviction that the remembrance of My Passion, combined with a living faith and true contrition, is the most efficacious remedy against sins.”
