On one occasion, when St. Gertrude felt a great nuisance while working on a certain thing, she said to the heavenly Father: “Lord, I offer you this work through the intercession of your only-begotten Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit for your eternal glory!” Then she recognized that this intention had given the work an extraordinary value, and thus elevated it above ordinary human activity.
She also came to know that whatever man offers to God the Father through the Son of God is pleasing to Him. And just as all objects appear green or red to the one who looks at them through green or red glass; so also to the heavenly Father all that is offered to Him through the mediation of His Son is more precious and acceptable than all other sacrifices offered without this mediation.
