The Lord Jesus revealed to St. Gertrude how every time a man does a good deed for the love of God, even if it is the smallest one, even if it is the recitation of only one “Our Father” or “Hail Love” or some other short similar prayer; immediately the Son of God accepts this pious act as the fruit of His most holy Humanity. He offers it to His heavenly Father, blesses the work, and then gives it back again to the one who has done it; that the fruit obtained from this may be used for the benefit of the Church and for the eternal salvation of the faithful who belong to the Holy Church.
Anyone can perform these sacred exercises, that is, recite the five “Our Fathers” in honour of the wounds of the Lord Jesus, kiss these Most Holy Wounds, and implore the Saviour for sinners in the bosom of the Catholic Church, in order to obtain for them forgiveness for their indifference and negligence. But at the same time, he should have a strong hope that he will obtain this fruit from God’s mercy and goodness.
