While singing the hymn “Come, Holy Spirit!” St. Mechtilde saw the Holy Spirit in the form of an eagle flying through the choir. And from His Sacred Heart came as many rays as there were people present, and each ray was served by a thousand angels. While the Congregation was approaching the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, the white dove also touched the heart of each of those present with its beak and kindled the flames of love in him. In some hearts, however, the flame was soon extinguished, while in others it grew louder and larger.
On another occasion the Lord Jesus appeared to her, and dressed in gold, that is, in love itself. Thus He kindly approached every one in the choir, and breathed the Holy Spirit from His sweet Heart into every one of them, like a gentle and pleasant breeze.
