It is composed of the words with which the Lord Jesus asked His Blessed Mother to forgive St. Gertrude for all the omissions she had committed in her service:
I offer you, O Blessed Mother, the Heart of your most beloved Son, filled with all happiness; may this sweetest Heart remind you of the love with which this Son of God freely and extraordinarily chose you centuries ago; may it remind you that He created you, sanctified you, and made you worthy of becoming His Mother.
Remember all the tender caresses He showed You when, in His first Childhood, You warmed Him in Your hands and nourished Him with Your breasts.
Remember the strict obedience which, out of love for You, He observed in His life to Heaven and earth. Remember how, at the hour of His Death, as if insensible to His own sufferings, He remembered only to console You and to give You another Son in His place. Finally, remember that on the day of Your glorious Assumption, Your Most Beloved Son raised You above the choirs of the angel and the saints and made You Queen of Heaven and Earth.
I offer you all these proofs of his love, as if he had shown them to you anew, in the intention of my request to spur you, Mother of mercy, to forgive me all the omissions I have committed towards you in your service. And I beg you to come to my aid at the hour of my death, and to accept my soul with maternal love into your most holy hands. Amen.
