St. Bridget was once in awe of witnessing the following mutual adoration of Jesus and Mary:
Mary said: Hail, my Son! For you are holy, as the song goes, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Sabaoth!” Hail, for you are sweet, you are sweeter, and you are the sweetest! You were a saint before your incarnation, a saint in your mother’s womb, and a saint after you were born! And before the creation of the world, you were sweet, you were sweeter to the angels, but you were sweetest to Me at your incarnation! Blessed be you, My Son! My god! My Lord! I beseech Thee, because Thou hast been the sweetest to me, that others may also partake of My sweetness!
The Lord Jesus said: Hail, dearest Mother! Your words are sweet and full of love, and therefore they will help everyone who takes Your sweetness into his mouth and keeps it perfectly in them. And whoever accepts it, but throws it away again, will suffer a fuller punishment for bitterness!
The Blessed Virgin said: “Blessed be you, My Son, for all your love!”
