On one occasion St. Mechtilde asked the Lord Jesus: “What is the use of a book containing her revelations?” The Savior said to her,
All who seek me with faithful hearts will find joy in it, those who love me will be more kindled in my love, and those who are sad will find comfort in it.”

Meditation for the Solemnity of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Love

The Blessed Virgin Love revealed to the Venerable Mary of Jesus the following:
Contemplating the mystery of the Incarnation of the Son of God, in which the Divinity was so deeply humbled that in the womb of such a poor virgin as I was, He was united with human nature; think carefully about how God has humbled Himself, not only for Me alone, but for you as well as for Me.
After all, the Lord’s mercy is infinite, and His love knows no bounds. Every soul that receives Him, guards and defends Him in this way, and rejoices in it as if He had created it alone, and as if He had become man for it alone. Therefore, you should consider yourself as if you were alone in the world, so that you can thank Him with all your heart for His coming into this world. And then give thanks to Him also for coming at the same time for all other people. When you know and understand by living faith that the same God, who is infinite in His perfections and eternal in His Majesty, who came down to earth to take upon Himself a human body in My womb, that the same God seeks you, calls you, cares for you, loves you, and gives Himself entirely for you, as if you were His only creation; Then consider and realize what this wonderful humiliation obliges you to do. And from this admiration, move on to a living act of faith and love. For you owe everything to such a King and Lord, who deigned to come to you, although you could neither seek Him nor come to Him.
All that the Lord can give you will seem great when you look at it with the light of reason and with human feelings, even if you do not reach higher with your thoughts. And indeed, every gift from the hand of so great and exalted a King deserves a high appreciation. If, however, you consider God Himself, know Him with the light of God, and think that He has made you capable of partaking of His divinity, then you will recognize that if God did not communicate Himself to you, and if He did not come to you, all creation would be worthless to you, and would even be nothing. And you will find peace and contentment only in knowing that you have such a great, loving, loving, powerful, gentle, and rich God. That you have a God who, though infinitely great, has nevertheless deigned to descend into your lowliness to raise you from the dust, to enrich your poverty and to show himself before you as Shepherd, Father, Bridegroom and most faithful Friend.
So, My daughter, ponder in your soul the efficacy of this truth. Remember the tender love that this great King shows you through His constant solicitude, through His gifts and graces that you receive from Him. By the works to which He has called you; by the light which His divine wisdom has kindled in your soul. That you may know thoroughly how infinitely great His Essence is, how wonderful His works are, how deep His mysteries are, how He is true in all things, and how created things are nothing. This recognition is necessary so that you may know with what reverence and appreciation you should receive these graces and benefits from the hand of Him who is your true God, your treasure, your light, and your guide. Consider Him as your infinite, loving, and terrible God. Listen to these words of Mine and to My teachings: they will give peace to your heart and light to your eyes.
