The Blessed Virgin Mary said to the venerable Mary of Jesus:
“My daughter, if mortals had a heart detached from earthly things and a sound judgment for the worthy recognition of this great mystery of mercy which God has wrought for them, the thought of it would set them on the path of life and inflame them with love for their Creator and Saviour. After all, humans are endowed with reason. If they only wanted to use it, as they are obligated to do, then who could remain so hard and unfeeling that they would not be moved at the sight of their incarnate God? A God who so humbled Himself that He wanted to be born poor, despised, unknown among the irrational like animals, and condemned only to the protection of His Mother, who was herself poor, was rejected from the foolish and proud world. Who, in the face of so sublime wisdom and so great a mystery, would still dare to love vanity and presumption, which the Creator of heaven and earth so hates and condemns by His example? And who else could despise the humility, the poverty, and the contentment with little, which the Lord has chosen for himself, and which he points out to all of us as the true means to eternal life? There are few who take the time to seriously consider this truth and this example; As a result of this shameful ingratitude, few have the fruits of these great mysteries.
