On one occasion St. Mechtilde asked the Lord Jesus: “What is the use of a book containing her revelations?” The Savior said to her,
All who seek me with faithful hearts will find joy in it, those who love me will be more kindled in my love, and those who are sad will find comfort in it.”

Flower of Devotion

Mary is the Mother of the inhabitants of Heaven, Purgatory and Earth

On one occasion Our Lady said to St. Bridget:

I am the Mother of God, because it pleased Him so; I am also the Mother of all who dwell in Heaven. Though children receive what they need at will, yet their joy is increased when they see the kindly face of their mother. It is so pleasing to God to fill all in Heaven with joy and gaiety through the purity of My virginity and through the beauty of My virtues, although by the power of God they possess all good things in an incomprehensible way.
I am also the Mother of all who are in Purgatory, for all the punishments that are destined for those who are to be cleansed for their sins are remitted every hour by My prayer. It is so pleasing to God that some of the punishments which God’s justice deserved are diminished.
I am the Mother of all justice in the world. This justice was loved by my Son with the most perfect love. And the maternal hand of every age is ready to avert all dangers, in defense of the son of her dear heart. If anyone should attempt to hurt him, I am always ready to defend the righteous in the world and to shield them from every spiritual danger that threatens them.
I am also, in a certain sense, the Mother of all sinners who want to improve and have the will to sin against God no more. I am also ready to defend even a sinner, as that mother full of love when she sees her enemies attacking her son with sharp swords. Would not such a mother then bravely throw herself against these dangers, to snatch her son from the hands of his enemies, and to gladly keep him in her bosom? This is what I do, and I will do so to all sinners who ask for mercy from My Son with true sorrow and with the love of God.
