During the Holy Mass “Salve sancta parens” (Hail, Holy Mother) St. Mechtilde saw the Blessed Virgin with a crown on her head, whose garment of flowers was falling to the ground. Her red mantle was covered with gold and crowns, all of which bowed to the ground, and on each crown was written her name.
The crown of the Blessed Virgin on her head signified the closest union with God that she enjoys before all other creatures. The crown resting on her shoulders bore the inscription: “Mother of God and man.” The third crown covered her chest and was called “The Crown of Angels. The fourth crown bore the name: “The Joy of All Saints. The fifth was called, “The Consolation of All the Wretched.” Sixth: “The Refuge of All Sinners.” The bending of the crowns to the ground meant that, with all His gifts and graces that God bestows upon her, she was leans towards men.
Then Saint asked in detail for certain people who had been recommended to her. The Blessed Virgin answered: “If one who is intoxicated with earthly wine is more generous than a sober one, how much more generous am I, who constantly drink from the highest sweetness of the Divine Heart, gushing with the sweetest and purest wine of the most sublime Divinity!”
