On one occasion the Lord said to St. Bridget:
“Believe me, my daughter, that I, Christ, am the One who restores life, and not a traitor; I am the real and the truth itself, not a liar; I am the eternal power, without which nothing has been and nothing will be. For if you believe that I am in the hands of the priest in the transfigured Host, then I am in it, even if the priest doubts. For the faith of the faithful and present, and for the sake of the word which I Myself have personally instituted and spoken, I am truly in His hand.
And everyone who accepts Me accepts My Divinity and My Humanity and the form of bread. For what is God but life and sweetness enlightening light, cheerful goodness, judging justice, and saving mercy? What else is My Humanity if not the union between God and man, the Head of all Christians? In this way, anyone who believes in God and accepts My Body accepts My Divinity, for he takes life; it also assumes Humanity, by means of which God is united to man; He also takes the form of bread, because he takes the form of Him who is hidden under this form for the increase of faith.
In the same way, the wicked man receives the same Deity, but not a gentle one, but a punishing one. He also accepts Humanity, but it is less kind to Him. He also takes the form of bread, for under the visible form he assumes the hidden Majesty; However, he does not feel the sweetness of this sweetness. For when he approaches me with his mouth and teeth, after the sacrament has been consummated, I depart with the Divinity and Humanity, and only the form of bread remains. Not as if I were not to be truly present there with the wicked, as with the good, because of the institution of the sacrament, but because the good and the bad have different efficacies.
Ultimately, man in the sacrament accepts life, namely, God himself. And life comes into it. but it does not remain with the wicked, because they do not forsake evil, and therefore only the form of bread remains to their senses.
