Our Lady went on to say to Venerable Mary of Jesus:
Remember that there are only two ways to eternity. One leads to eternal death through contempt of virtue and ignorance of God. The second leads to eternal life through a fruitful knowledge of God. For this is eternal life, that we may know God, His only begotten, whom he sent into the world (John 17:3).
The way of death is walked by innumerable fools who, in their frightful unreasonableness, know nothing of their ignorance, of their self-esteem, and of their pride. And to those whom God in His mercy has called into His light (1 Pet. 2:9.) and regenerated as children of light, and gave regeneration a new life through faith, hope and love; whereby they became His children and heirs of the kingdom of God.
When they had thus become his children, the Lord gave them the virtues which he infused into their souls at their first justification (by Baptism), so that, as children of light, they might also do the works of light in a suitable way (Eph. 5:8.) And in addition to the virtues, He also provided for them the gifts of the Holy Ghost. And just as the sun does not withhold its warmth and light from anyone, so long as man is able and sensitive enough to receive the power of its rays, so the wisdom of God is still less hidden from anyone with His graces. Yes, he cries out in the highest, on public roads, and on the most hidden paths; at the gates and in the squares of the cities, He invites all to Himself (Proverbs 8:1–3). But foolishness makes men deaf, wicked malice makes them mockers, and the perversity of unbelief separates them from God, whose wisdom does not dwell in a wicked heart, nor in the flesh that serves sin (Wisdom 1:4).
Therefore, My daughter, do not go to death in the frenzy of life and do not bring destruction upon yourself by the works of your hands (Wisdom 1:11 and 12). This is done by the children of darkness, as you can see in the light of heaven. Fear Almighty God and the righteous Lord; with a holy, humble and orderly fear, and walk in all your deeds according to the example of this Master. Let your heart be soft, obedient, and teachable to do works of morality and godliness. Judge well what is virtue and what is vice.
Arm yourself with invincible power (fortitude) so that you may accomplish the most difficult and sublime things and endure the heaviest and most painful sufferings.
Behold the power of God’s light. With his help you will rise above all the senses, you will rise to the highest recognition of the mysteries of God’s wisdom, and you will learn to distinguish the new (righteous) man from the old (sinner). You will also be able to receive wisdom when you are once brought into the vineyard of your Bridegroom (Song 2:4) and become intoxicated with his love, and when his eternal love is put in order.
