On one occasion St. Mechtilde asked the Lord Jesus: “What is the use of a book containing her revelations?” The Savior said to her,
All who seek me with faithful hearts will find joy in it, those who love me will be more kindled in my love, and those who are sad will find comfort in it.”

Flower of Devotion

Seeing the graces coming to those who reverently listen to the Holy Mass

Once, during Mass, St. Mechtilde saw Jesus, the King of Splendor, sitting on a throne. This throne was transparent, clear as crystal. On its front side there were two streams, clear and delightful. In them she came to know the holy image of the grace of the forgiveness of sins and the grace of spiritual consolation. It is easy for everyone to receive them at Mass, through the presence of God in it.
During the offering of the Blessed Host, the Lord Jesus rose from his chair and the saint saw how with His own hands He lifted His Sacred Heart in the form of a transparent lamp, full to the point of overflowing. The lamp tilted in all directions so suddenly that great drops fell from it, and yet its fullness did not diminish. By this she knew that although from the fullness of the Heart of Jesus all receive a sufficient multitude of graces, as much as each one can receive, yet the Lord Jesus always remains completely rich in all happiness, and never suffers any loss. She also saw the hearts of all those present, also in the form of lamps, as if with strings attached to the Heart of God. Between them stood some straight, full of oil, and burning, while others hung downwards, as if detached and overturned. The saint recognized that these burning and upright lamps signified the hearts of those who had listened to the Mass with devotion and zeal, and the overturned lamps signified the hearts of those who had neglected to be raised by devotion.
