Flower of Devotion

St. John the Evangelist once said to St. Bridget:

“The Scripture which you call “holy” says that there is no work without recompense. It is a scripture which is also called the Bible in your country. With us, on the other hand, it shines like a shining sun, incomparably like gold, fertile like a seed that bears fruit a hundredfold. For as gold surpasses all other metals, so it surpasses the writing which you call sacred, all writings. For it teaches of the true God and proclaims his worship. It tells of the works of the patriarchs and explains the inspirations of the prophets.
