The words of St. Gertrude:
O my God, I, an unworthy sinner, confess with heartfelt sorrow that, unfortunately, because of human frailty, I have often offended Your justice in me, and out of ignorance and malice I have often sinned against Your wisdom and goodness. O Father of Mercy, have mercy on me and grant me in Your power to find the strength to resist everything that displeases You. By Thy incomprehensible goodness, give me a means in my hand, that I may prevent all things with care, whatever might offend Thy pure eyes. And grant that Your immeasurable goodness may grant me that grace by which I may remain so strongly and constantly united to You, that I may never, even in the smallest thing, go against Your will. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
