Flower of Devotion

My daughter, in the example of My life, which I led in the married state assigned to Me by God, you will find proof of how perverse is the self-acquittal with which people living in the world try to beautify their imperfections¹(Our Lady is probably referring to people who, for their lack of personal holiness, they blame the marital status they live in. Publisher’s note.). Nothing is dissimilar with God, but so is it with those who trust in God in living faith and submit to His divine decrees in all things. I lived as holy a life in My bridegroom’s house as I did in the temple. Because with My condition, I have not changed My disposition, My desires, or My concern with which I have always wanted to love God and serve Him. Yes, I tried all the more to fulfill all the duties that rested on Me as the Bride. Hence, God’s grace supported Me even more, His mighty hand arranged everything according to My desire.
God would do the same with all other people, if they, on their part, behaved accordingly. People blame their condition and deceive themselves. For the reason that they are not perfect and holy does not lie in their condition, but comes from the vain and useless cares and troubles to which they devote themselves. Because they forget about God’s pleasure and seek their own pleasure and put it above God’s pleasure.
