The Lord Jesus once appeared to St. Mechtilda as a twelve-year-old boy, wearing a green and white dress.
The saint said to the Lord: “Why did you want to appear for the first time and sit in the temple among the teachers, listening to them and questioning them, when you were twelve years old, when before, I believe, you often came to the temple?”
The Lord replied: “I began to be trained in human works according to human time, as I increased in wisdom from day to day, although I was equal to the Father in eternal wisdom. And you, when they are 12 years old, should encourage your children to do good and punish them for evil. Then many of them would not suffer damage to their souls and would not be stunted in spiritual science.”
Saint Mechtilde continued, “What does your two-toned dress mean?”
The Lord replied: “This white color signifies the virginal purity of My most holy Body, and the green color represents My eternal flowering.”
