Our Lady once said to the venerable Mary of Jesus:
My daughter, it is a duty of justice towards the eternal God that when a creature comes to the use of reason, it immediately turns its earliest thoughts towards God. That they would recognize, honor, love and worship Him as their Creator and the only true Lord. Parents, on the other hand, have a natural duty to lead their children to know God from their earliest youth and to teach them carefully to seek their ultimate goal from the very beginning and to unite in Him with their first acts of reason and will.
Parents should take care to keep their children away from childish mischief and reckless play, which corrupt nature, if not disciplined by the educator, itself encourages them to do. If father and mother tried to prevent these mistakes and shortcomings in their children, they would teach them from their earliest youth to quickly know God and the Creator. Then it would be easier for their children to acknowledge God in everything and pay Him homage.
My holy Mother, who did not yet know My wisdom and My condition, fulfilled this duty so thoroughly and so early that, while still carrying Me under Her heart, she paid Divine homage to My Creator in My Creator’s name. And she gave Him respectful thanks for creating Me. At the same time, she asked Him to protect me, surround me with His care and happily release me from my then condition.
All parents should beg God so earnestly that God, by His Providence, would deign to ensure that these little creatures happily receive Holy Baptism and be free from the slavery of original sin.
However, if a rational creature were to neglect knowing God and worshiping Him immediately after coming to reason, it is obliged to repay it at the moment when, by virtue of faith, it gains knowledge of the one and only highest Good. And once the soul has gained this knowledge, it should strive never to lose sight of God, but to always fear Him, always honor and love Him.
