On one occasion St. Mechtilde asked the Lord Jesus: “What is the use of a book containing her revelations?” The Savior said to her,
All who seek me with faithful hearts will find joy in it, those who love me will be more kindled in my love, and those who are sad will find comfort in it.”

About listening to priestly teachings

Our Lady once said to the venerable Mary of Jesus:
You should listen with respect to the teachings of God’s servants, that is, priests and preachers. Their voice is an echo of God’s voice and a channel through which the sound teaching of life from the source of God’s wisdom reaches people. Through them God speaks, through them He proclaims His divine law. So listen to them with as much respect as if you had never found fault with them or judged them. You should consider all of them wise and eloquent, and in each of them you should hear Christ, My Son and Lord.
In this way you will avoid the stupid arrogance of men of the world who, in their vanity and arrogance, so hateful to God, despise the priests of the Lord because they do not speak according to their corrupt taste. Such people do not listen to priests to hear God’s truth, but to pass judgment on their words and the style in which they speak; as if the word of God were not pure and effective, and without refined words that suit the morbid taste of the hearers.
