On one occasion St. Mechtilde asked the Lord Jesus: “What is the use of a book containing her revelations?” The Savior said to her,
All who seek me with faithful hearts will find joy in it, those who love me will be more kindled in my love, and those who are sad will find comfort in it.”

Prayer for the Holy Church and its needs

Words of Saint Mechtilde:

I am asking You, Lord God, for Your honor, grant us the faithful of Your Holy Church, so that the Apostolic See in Rome may always be ruled by a Vicar adorned with all Christian virtues, so that Your Holy Church may grow in love, be free from all sin and sanctified by all virtues. So that You may finally, by Your almighty hand, free Your Jerusalem and all those cities and countries that groan under unjust oppression.
With all the saints, I am asking You, Most Holy Lord Jesus Christ, for Christian peace and for the necessary supply of fruit both for this country and for all Christian countries. I pray You, O Lord, keep Your friends in Your service, and convert Your enemies and punish their malice.
I am asking You, King of glory and crown of all princes, O Lord Jesus Christ, for the princes of this country and of all Christendom. Kindly unite them through Your Holy Spirit, so that they may never engage in sinful war against Your will and to the detriment of their salvation.
I am asking You, Most Beloved Lord, for all Your faithful who are suffering today at sea, in sickness, in prison, in distress or in need. Comfort them with Your gentle goodness, so that they may never lose Your consolation or Your blessing of full kindness.
I am asking You, Most Holy Heavenly Father, for all Christian souls who are parting with their bodies today, that You, O merciful God, would deign to save them and judge them graciously. O my Lord and God, have mercy on the souls of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, my relatives, friends and acquaintances, and on all the souls suffering in purgatory. Set them free through Your goodness and mercy! May they rest in peace! Amen.
O Lord, accept this prayer of mine, deign to hear it and keep me in Your grace! Amen.
