On one occasion St. Mechtilde asked the Lord Jesus: “What is the use of a book containing her revelations?” The Savior said to her,
All who seek me with faithful hearts will find joy in it, those who love me will be more kindled in my love, and those who are sad will find comfort in it.”

How the Lord’s saints praise God

Once Saint Mechtilde saw the Lord sitting on a throne, around whom Love was walking in the form of a beautiful virgin and singing: “I hear Him around the throne.” Through these words it was revealed to the saint how the saints, full of happiness, praise everything that God has done great for them. Namely, how He chose them in incomprehensible wisdom, justified them without their merits, and made them worthy of His grace. How through their powerful and strong love he freed them from all misery and turned not only all their good deeds, but even their bad ones, to good and to their salvation. How graciously the Lord God accepts their praise, as if all goodness did not come from Him, but as if they had it from themselves; and yet they worshiped Him alone for it.
